Changing a life has never been more difficult.
(Or more easy.)

The hard part: In Benin, only 30% of children get a secondary education.

In a country where many live on just $1.25 USD per day, paying for the books and supplies students need simply isn’t possible for many families. In Benin, socio-cultural and economic factors also work against girls completing school, as young women typically drop out early due to marriage, pregnancy, ongoing health problems, and a bias favoring boys’ education.

It’s a thorny problem, but not an unsolvable one, and you can learn about what we’re doing at CPAAC-ZOU to help more kids — both boys and girls — attend school and learn the skills that will lift them out of poverty towards a healthier, more satisfying life.

The easy part: A small financial donation pays off for a lifetime.

In France, it costs the government as much as 143,000 Euros to cover the cost of a child’s time in public education. In the U.S., a public education is even more, costing up to $195,000 US Dollars. In Benin, where public schools are free, the only cost to parents for 13 years of education is around $800. And yet even that seemingly small amount of money is out of reach for most parents.

And that’s where you and CPAAC-ZOU enter the picture. We’re a non-profit school focused on paying for the uniforms, school supplies and fees that keep so many who simply can’t afford such things out of the classroom. In addition, we teach young people valuable vocational skills, such as information technology, welding, seamstress work and beauty styling, so they earn their way to a better life.

So for a very small donation you can make a lifetime-sized difference for a child who’s eager to learn. Read the section on Impact of Your Gift to learn exactly how far your donation goes.

Help us prepare the young people of Benin for a long and joyous future.
